Regulatory Information, Our Complaints Procedure and your right to complain to the Legal Ombudsman
Barristers in chambers are regulated by the Bar Standards Board. You can search the Barristers’ Register on the Bar Standards Board’s website:
https://www.barstandardsboard.org.uk/regulatory-requirements/the-barristers'-register/.
This shows (1) whether a barrister has a current practising certificate, and (2) whether a barrister has any disciplinary findings, which are published on the Bar Standards Board’s website in accordance with their policy. Alternatively, you can contact the Bar Standards Board on 020 7611 1444 to ask about this (or e-mail ContactUs@BarStandardsBoard.org.uk).
We aim to provide you with the best possible service but appreciate that, on occasion, a complaint might arise. A separate document, accessible here, provides information about:
• Our complaints procedure;
• Any right you may have to complain to the Legal Ombudsman (LeO) – the independent body which can help you if you have complained to your lawyer and are not happy with their response;
• How to complain to LeO; and
• Any time limits for making a complaint.
You can also find further information here: scheme-rules-april-2023-final.pdf (legalombudsman.org.uk) and you can
You can also search the decision data on LeO’s website: Ombudsman decision data | Legal Ombudsman
This shows providers which received an ombudsman’s decision in the previous 12 months, and whether LeO required the provider to give the consumer a remedy. Alternatively, you can contact LeO on 0300 555 0333 to ask about this (or e-mail enquiries@legalombudsman.org.uk).
Equality & Diversity
9 Park Place is fully committed to equity of opportunity. For more information please see our Chambers Equality and Diversity Policy: Equality and Diversity Policy.
Chambers has conducted a survey in accordance with the Bar Standards Board Code of Conduct, in order to collect and publish equality and diversity data. BSB rules aim to provide transparency in recruitment and to encourage diversity in the profession.
The survey was conducted anonymously and participation was voluntary, as required by the BSB rules. Total numbers may differ from category to category because a response to each question was voluntary. Data is not published where its publication might reasonably lead to the identification of individuals without their consent.
9 Park Place is committed to ensuring that everyone is accorded equal dignity and respect and is judged on merit alone, free from random judgments based on discrimination, prejudice or assumptions about collective characteristics.
