Our David Gareth Evans has contributed an article to the Barrister Magazine [published July 27th 2026]
In it Gareth argues that, while the Family Court’s new Child Focused Court (CFC) model has brought significant benefits by making private law children cases faster, less adversarial, and more centred on children’s welfare, there is a risk of an “over-correct” in the system’s response to domestic abuse allegations. The article concludes that protecting alleged victims and maintaining procedural fairness are equally essential, and that a truly child-focused system must remain grounded in evidence and reliable judicial fact-finding to avoid creating new injustices while trying to remedy past ones.
