The Common Law Team deals with disputes in the private field in the Queen's Bench Division and the county courts, including landlord and tenant, professional negligence, construction, and traditional common-law litigation.

Members of the team also attend coroners' courts and tribunals.

The clerk responsible for the team is the Senior Clerk, Jim Williams.
