Owen specialises in personal injury, contract including partnership disputes, land law, landlord and tenant and employment.
Owen handles personal injury cases on behalf of both claimants and defendants. In addition to road traffic cases he has particular experience of employment-related accidents, of cases involving deafness and of asbestos-related conditions.
His practice in land law includes landlord and tenant and housing and he undertakes a good deal of contract work including building and construction. He also deals with torts.
Owen regularly represents both claimants and respondents with employment issues and possesses extensive experience of cases of alleged discrimination on the grounds of disability, sex and age.
Recent notable cases include Keir v Morrison Supermarkets 2010 where he was successful in the Court of Appeal in upholding damages for the claimant who suffered liquid gas burns while filling a car with petroleum gas. He also undertook a three day trial in a maritime partnership dispute (Fisher Marine v Amethyst Marine 2010).
A Welsh speaker, Owen has handled civil, criminal and employment cases through the medium of Welsh. He undertakes conditional fee agreement work.
Owen was educated at Ysgol Gyfun Rhydfelen, Pontypridd before going on to study at the University of Aberystwyth, University of Cambridge and Inns of Court School of Law. He is also a qualified Welsh Rugby Union referee.
