Angela joined 9 Park Place in November 2016 having previously completed her pupillage and practised at Angel Chambers in Swansea.  Her central practice area is Family Law focusing on both Private and Public proceedings concerning children at all levels. Angela also advises in relation to mental health and Court of Protection matters. In October 2022 she was appointed a Deputy District Judge on the Wales Circuit.

Family

Angela has experience of dealing with a variety of cases at all levels up to and including the High Court. Due to the nature of the issues involved Angela is happy to advise on an urgent basis and to undertake advisory and drafting work in short timescales where required.

Following a busy six month secondment to the Child Care Legal Departments of two Local Authorities (2012), Angela has developed a real understanding of the Public Law process as a whole. She is now regularly instructed by Local Authorities, parents and Guardians and has experience of dealing with cases involving emotional and physical abuse, neglect, substance misuse, non accidental injury and sexual abuse. She has experience of dealing with clients with learning difficulties and has acted for the Official Solicitor.

Angela has a broad experience of Private Law applications relating to children which range from the most straight forward matters to the most significant. Angela has conducted cases involving injuries to children, allegations of sexual abuse and serious domestic violence. She is regularly instructed to represent parents, family members and Guardians. 

She prides herself on being an approachable and sympathetic advocate who is able to offer sensible, realistic and practical advice to clients. She is a member of the Family Law Bar Association.

Court of Protection

Angela is developing and growing her practice in relation to applications in the Court of Protection. Her experience includes disputes over capacity and personal welfare involving decisions about residence, contact, care and treatment. Angela is regularly instructed by Local Authorities in relation to matters including applications involving deprivations of liberty and she is happy to accept instructions and to advise in this area.

Mental Health

Angela has experience advising and appearing on behalf of Local Authorities and patients detained pursuant to section 2 and 3 of the Mental Health Act 1983. Angela is also instructed by Local Authorities in nearest relative displacement applications.
