New newsletters OUT NOW!
dyddiad postio: 06/01/2010
January 2010 sees the issue of two fresh newsletters from Chambers’ practice teams.
The civil team’s sixth quarterly newsletter features an article by Andrew Keyser QC on developments in civil procedure during 2009. The article ranges over topics such as updates to the CPR, case management, service, costs, remedies and jurisdiction, disclosure and revocation and setting aside.
In the first issue of the crime team’s newsletter Ieuan Bennett discusses the law on retrials whilst Michael Hammett contributes a note on the case of Bennett in which it was argued on appeal that the trial judge had failed properly to direct the jury to take account of the appellant’s skills as an advance-trained police driver.
“The Ponderer” takes as his subject the question: “Are cuts in defence legal aid payments necessary, fair or reasonable?” and detects an Orwellian thread in the government’s actions and policies.

If you would like a copy of the latest newsletter, any previous editions or would like to be placed on the circulation list to receive any future copies, please contact the clerking team.
