| Area of Practice : | Crime: In the last 10 years or so, Gregg Taylor has specialised in serious fraud cases and large drug importation trials. This work has involved the receipt of trial evidence from other jurisdictions and the examination of foreign assets for confiscation as well as compensation claims in the Crown Court. |
| Notable Cases : | In the mid 1980s Gregg Taylor successfully represented the first-named defendant in the multi-handed Orgreave Riot trial held at Sheffield Crown Court. In the 1990s Gregg was junior counsel in a series of high profile murder cases, including the Lynette White and the Tooze murder trials. In 2000, he successfully appealed the assault conviction of a head teacher from Monmouthshire on a rehearing at Cardiff Crown Court. He has defended professionals charged with historic sexual offences (including the “Goldfinch” care home cases). He has also represented professionals facing allegations of fraud on the public and deception cases brought by the Inland Revenue. Between 2002 and 2005 he prosecuted a series of drug trials and resisted appeals against conviction for class A importation. In 2006 he secured a confiscation order with a benefit figure of over £37 million following convictions for fraud. |
