Personal and Clinical Negligence:

Robert has appeared regularly in fast track and multi track trials for both claimants and defendants in all aspects of personal injury work, including Highways Act, Occupiers’ Liability Act, employers’ liability and road traffic accident claims.

Employment:

Robert has considerable experience of tribunal work including pre-hearing reviews, case management discussions and final hearings.  He regularly advises and represents claimants and respondents (both individual and corporate) in all aspects of employment law.  He has a particular interest in dispute resolution and has given a number of seminars in relation to the statutory dispute resolution procedures.

Common law (Housing):

He has advised and represented tenants and housing associations in relation to claims for possession and anti-social behaviour injunctions.

Chancery & Commercial:

Insolvency.  Robert has represented creditors and trustees in bankruptcy in applications for bankruptcy orders and for orders for sale. 

Regulatory:

Robert handles a broad range of regulatory work.

Companies Acts. He has advised and represented company directors charged with offences of failing to file relevant documents with Companies House (e.g. annual accounts, annual returns).

Health & Safety. Robert has advised and represented companies charged with health and safety offences.

Environment. He has represented companies and individuals in relation to environmental matters such as:

  • Noise abatement
  • Issues in relation to abatement notices
  • Forestry Act prosecutions

Robert also has experience of licensing, HMRC prosecutions (both for the prosecution and the defence) and Anti-Social Behaviour orders.

Notable Cases :

In Mowatt v Air Wales Robert successfully represented the Claimant in a three day hearing in her claim for unfair dismissal and sex discrimination.

Bone v Marsh Lane Dental Practice.  He successfully defended the Respondent in a multi-day sexual harassment claim.

- Cholmondeley Scholarship

Seminars :

Robert has presented two seminars on dispute resolution legislation, including the changes made by the Employment Act 2002 and the Employment Act 2002 (Dispute Resolution) Regulations 2004 and the likely impact of the Employment Act 2008.
