Crime:

Michael has prosecuted and defended in a wide variety of criminal matters and has, of late, appeared as junior counsel for the Crown in a number of large-scale drugs and frauds cases.

Licensing:

He has experience of handling a wide variety of licensing cases, particularly applications made under the new regime introduced by the Licensing Act 2003.

Regulatory:

Michael has a special interest in Environment work and has undertaken a significant amount of work in Companies Acts cases. He also has experience in Health and Safety matters and parole hearings.

Dawson [2007] EWCA Crim.822, March 21, 2007. Agent provocateur. This was a defence application to stay an indictment as an abuse of process. Material undermining this application was revealed in a public interest immunity hearing and the issue for determination was whether it was necessary for the judge to recuse himself in such circumstances.
