| Notable Cases : | Drew [2001] EWCA Crim. 2861 in which the issue was whether the imposition of an automatic life sentence on a mentally-ill offender constituted a breach of his rights under the European Convention on Human Rights. He appeared for the prosecution in the cases of Dawson (trafficking in drugs) and Gilleeney (cocaine gang) which both featured in the national media and resulted in substantial sentences for those convicted. Other significant cases include Lewis (cocaine dealers caught through mobile telephone contacts), Nikolai (commercial fraud), Lovell (1990) Crim. L.R. 111, Attorney- General’s reference nos 26 and 27of 1994 (McAlister & Still), Jeffries No 96/08670/W and Slimmings No 97/05005/24. |
